Job Summary

Working at AECOM will give you the opportunity to be involved electrical engineering works associated with transmission and distribution utility networks, renewable projects, rail traction and generation projects. You will be given exposure to projects across all industries including networks, defence, coal seam gas, mining, generation and transport.

We are looking for a Principal Engineer who is looking to provide technical leadership and team mentoring to a geographically dispersed group. As part of this growing team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in delivering electrical design packages for projects across Australia and Asia Pacific.

Not only will you work with a range of internal stakeholders, but as a senior member of our team you will also drive the preparation of proposals, design schedules, budgets and technical and commercial submissions for bid proposals associated with electrical work for external clients; either as standalone bids or as part of wider project teams, thereby contributing to the ongoing success of our team.

From a technical perspective, as an Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Execution of transmission and distribution engineering for detailed design projects
  • Engineering management of multi-disciplinary teams delivering projects in the energy and resources sectors
  • Technical studies including modelling and computational analysis, both static and dynamic;
  • Mentoring graduates and junior technical engineering staff.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of 12 years’ relevant working experience working on transmission and distribution infrastructure projects;
  • Demonstrated history in the electricity and power market for consulting services, particularly in Queensland;
  • Sound local and regional market presence, with key relationships in the power sector in Queensland.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Required);
  • RPEQ Status – highly regarded.
