Description

Plans, designs, organizes and supervises the construction and operation of bridges, structures and other civil engineering projects. 

Duties will include: 

  • Undertake drafting and understanding of specifications, drawings, plans and quality procedures
  • ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with WH&S policies and procedures
  • involvement in technical and management contribution to investigations, civil/structural/hydraulic design and documentation, project management and technical advisory work
  • establishing detailed programs of works for site activities while liaising with client and contractor 
  • studying and producing engineering drawings and specifications to prepare cost estimates, detailed cost plans and estimates to assist in budgetary control
  • monitoring and conduct changes to designs, assessing cost associated with design options
  • analysis of structural components (bridge or temporary structures) for both static and dynamic loads
  • designing structures and bridges to achieve stability and avoid buckling, bending, torsion in any way in accordance with AS/NZS1170, AS1500, VicRoads Manual, AstroRoads and any relevant Australian Standards document or local authority document.
  • be involved in the design of the transportation systems such as highways, railroads and bridges
  • assisting team and project managers by developing good working relationships with clients during projects
