Salary up to $115,005 per annum plus superannuation
and a Motor Vehicle under Leaseback arrangement

A fantastic opportunity exists for a skilled and experienced Building Surveyor to help deliver great planning outcomes to the city.

About The Position

We are searching for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join our Building Certification Team. The team is responsible for delivering a range of residential development assessments, Construction Certificates, fire safety regulatory requirements and Complying Development Certificates for all classes of buildings across the local government area.

The position will focus on the assessment of Development / Construction Certificate applications and Council’s Certification functions. This is a great opportunity to build your skills in the practical application of planning and certification functions. You will also use your technical aptitude and personal resilience to contribute to the team achieving in this fast-paced work environment.

This is a full-time position, however we are a flexible organisation willing to discuss working arrangements with the right applicant.

Selection Criteria:

1 Recognised tertiary qualifications in one or more of the following:
  • town planning;
  • building surveying/environmental health; or
  • a related discipline.
  • 2 Registration with NSW Fair Trading in the class of Building Surveyor - Restricted (all classes of buildings).
    3 An understanding and/or demonstrated competence in the assessment of complex and/or controversial development and/or construction certificate applications.
    4 Expert knowledge of the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Regulation, the Building Code of Australia, the Local Government Act 1993 and other relevant legislation.
    5 Superior written and oral communication skills including demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills as well as proven ability to prepare reports on complex and/or controversial development matters.
    6 Demonstrated ability to effectively lead multi-disciplinary development project teams dealing with complex and/or controversial developments.
    7 Demonstrated supervisory, training, mentoring and coaching skills
    8 Outline your experience in work health and safety and provide examples of how you have demonstrated safety principles?
    9 Possession of a current Class C drivers licence or equivalent.

    Desirable Criteria

  • Registration with NSW Fair Trading in the class of Building Surveyor - Unrestricted.
  • Previous experience in the management of caravan park compliance with building codes, Council regulations/policies and environmental legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or ability in relation to the carrying out of routine inspections on development projects and/or the preparation of development control plans, local environmental plans or policy development in the area of development control.
