We are currently seeking applications from an experienced Design Engineer to apply advance skills and knowledge of Injection-Mould Tool Design and manufacturing engineering discipline to develop and implement manufacturing processes, equipment, facilities and documents, to meet the current and future production volume, quality, OHS and cost requirements. This role is based at our King’s Park site.

The Design Engineer works within the Precision Tooling Design Team, which forms a part of the Manufacturing & Technology Group (MTG).
Key Deliverables Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
MTG applies Engineering & Advanced Tooling to enable New Product Introduction (NPI) in Sydney and Singapore; and value in high-volume, moulded silicone components and soft goods; MTG is a part of ResMed’s Global Manufacturing Operations team.
  • Design and develop advanced injection-mould tooling to enable high-volume manufacture; process development trials; and rapid prototyping
  • Have a holistic approach to design; an ideas integrator who takes into account the needs of our customers, technology trends, environmental factors and design for high volume manufacturing
  • Be innovative and thorough in your approach to development, having the ability to perform at the right level of detail for the stage of the project.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, customers and suppliers.
  • Conduct Design for manufacture analysis, prototyping and verification activities to assess the feasibility/suitability of a design
  • Use CAD software and engineering theories to solve complex technical problems; thereby delivering mould & tooling design projects
  • Produce concepts, designs, drawings, models and files to deliver Tooling projects in a timely and efficient manner
  • Work within the ResMed Quality system and standards whilst maintaining training requirements.
  • Self-management of tasks by the individual and as directed by the Project and/or Team Leader.
  • Assess, and communicate effectively, the impact of issues with internal customers.
  • Develop test/measurement capabilities according to need.
  • Liaise with internal customers and suppliers in relation to design issues.
  • Promote safe working environment within OH&S guidelines.
Let’s Talk About Qualifications And Experience
To be successful in this position, you will have the following qualifications and experience.
  • A degree or trade qualification in Engineering, Tooling, Injection Moulding or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in part design and tool design for injection moulding; experience in tool-making advantageous.
  • Experience in 3D CAD modelling, designing components for plastic moulding, prototyping and assembly
  • Design skills with the ability to ideate through a variety of options in solving design problems
  • Strong technical skills and engineering nous to enable innovative designs
  • Ability to define a problem; design options to solve this problem; design tests and experiments to trial new ideas; and analyse and learn from results
  • Ability to influence others to achieve business objectives
  • Be self-driven, but not shy about asking for help
  • Have a passion for tinkering and a natural “maker”, with the ability to prototype to an appropriate level of detail for testing.
  • Excellent communication & documentation skills
  • Good knowledge of the fundamental principles of design
