Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch, a full-service consultancy, is currently seeking a highly motivated Bridge Engineer to join the Infrastructure group in Sydney.

Our Infrastructure business is experiencing growth due to a pipeline of high profile projects and future workforce planning requirements. Due to this growth, we are looking for an experienced Bridge Engineer work within our Melbourne Bridges team.

The Bridge Engineer provides support to the Principal Bridge Engineer and is responsible for the design of bridges and other associated structures. The candidate will provide mentorship and assistance to more junior engineers.

As the successful candidate, you will be:

• Proactively participating in project teams in the design of various transport infrastructure structures
• Performing site investigations and condition assessments of existing structures
• Providing support to the project manager in aspects related to the Structures discipline
• Completing work to a high technical standard, within agreed budgets and timeframes, and in compliance with Hatch’s Business Systems

You bring to the role:

Essential

• A relevant degree in Civil Engineering;
• Industry experience as a Bridge Engineer;
• Understanding of design and analysis of bridges and miscellaneous structures for public and private infrastructure
• Ability to both work as an individual or in a multidiscipline team with minimal supervision;
• Proficient in the use of Strand7, SpaceGass, Mathcad or other suitable design software;
• Sound knowledge of Australian Standards in current engineering and construction principles, methods and practices; in particular for VicRoads;
• Track record of participating in complex multidisciplinary projects

Desirable

• Professional Engineer registered with Engineers Australia or other relevant country registrational
• Experience and interest in business development initiatives, and in the development and maintenance of client relations
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally)
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments
