Backwell IXL are currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified Mechanical Engineer located at their Geelong Department.

Key Duties:

• Calculation and precise specialisation of material components
• Prepare preliminary and detailed mechanical designs, engineering calculations, technical
• and scope specifications, equipment datasheets and lists
• Designing and implementing cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve
• safety and reliability
• Develop project specifications and managing projects using engineering principles and
• Techniques
• Develop, test and evaluate theoretical designs and ensure compliance with statutory
• standards, conditions and parameters set out in the project scope of works
• Planning and designing new production processes
• Recommend modifications following prototype test results
• Using research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical
• modelling and computer-aided design
• Responsible for creating and developing large steel/metal structures, designing and
• constructing metal components
• Developing and maintaining balance machinery, stackers and reclaimers
• Liaising with manufacturing sector, subcontractors, suppliers and customers to discuss and solve complex problems
• Carry out quality assurance processes to ensure product is reliable and will perform
• consistently in specified operating environments
• Implement safety and quality protocols on every design

Relevant Skills & Knowledge:

• Bachelor of Engineering or relevant
• Minimum of 4 years experience

Salary range is $65,000 -$75,000 commensurate with experience
