About the role

We are looking for a Schematic Applications Specialist to provide support, advisory and consulting services for the successful deployment, implementation, configuration and maintenance of the Rio Tinto schematics applications and associated systems. You will be responsible for the successful development and integration of the P&ID, electrical & instrumentation solutions as part of the overall digital delivery platform.

This is a great opportunity for a person who has detailed knowledge of digital engineering software, as well as the functional requirements of other applications that make up the Rio Tinto platform.

Reporting to the Manager Digital Engineering and working in a new small influential team within an exciting environment within Rio Tinto Projects, you will:

  • Deliver consulting, implementation, administration, training, configuration, customisation and support services for the Rio Tinto digital project delivery platform with respect to P&ID, electrical & instrumentation applications functions and the interactions with other applications in the software suite.
  • Apply high level skills (as a super-user and administrator) in the setup and use of the Rio Tinto P&ID, electrical & instrumentation applications and associated systems.
  • Maintain an in-depth and up to date knowledge of the Rio Tinto digital project delivery platform applications as required to maintain current product knowledge and roadmap developments.
  • Undertake and manage multiple tasks and priorities requiring technical analysis, diagnosis and problem solving as required to support the full digital strategy implementation
  • Advise management on industry standards and trends, compiling training documents and technical reports.
  • Participate in the development (including authoring) of procedural and governance documentation for use in systems and project deployments as required.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through delivery of a high level of support and advisory service to the Rio Tinto Digital Delivery Group, Rio Tinto Projects and associated stakeholders.

What you will bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Schematics Systems teams leadership experience and capability with Diploma level qualifications in an engineering or technical discipline is highly desirable. However, equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Substantial experience in resources industry plant design as part of a multi discipline project execution team in an Owner, EPC or EPCM organisation, with highly developed skills, knowledge and ability in the relevant systems environment.
  • Extensive experience in the production and management of database generated deliverables including, single line diagrams, loop drawings and termination drawings, cable schedules, datasheets, reports, lists, etc.
  • Extensive experience in the development and management of system reference data, catalogs, cables & component specifications, etc.
  • Extensive experience in the application’s administration functions such as management of role-based user access, permissions, progress measurement and rules-based functions.
  • Good understanding of process design documents such as PFDs & P&ID’s; and understanding of industry standards such as ANSI, API, ASTM etc.
  • Experience in distributed systems architecture and object-oriented modelling and associated reference data using eg, Azure, SQL, C# etc
  • Excellent verbal and written skills including technical writing skills
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, systems management and problem-solving skills using a suite of products such as PowerBI, SQL etc
  • Ability to document methods, workflows and training materials and ability to effectively deliver training and support to a variety of users.
