Minara Resources has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Instrumentation Engineer who loves a challenge and variety which can only come with working at the most complex hydrometallurgical and process plants in Australia.

Minara Resources is Australia’s largest cobalt producer and a major world producer of nickel. Our Murrin Murrin site in WA’s northern Goldfields is an integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. Our process plant consists of High Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) technology and a Refinery. As an owner-operator, we also run our own Utilities department which incorporates a 90MW power station (including steam and gas turbines), a 4400TPD acid plant (one of the largest in the southern hemisphere), 6TPH H2S plant and a reverse osmosis water treatment plant which draws from our extensive bore fields.

The Role

You Will Find Yourself Working On

As a member of a hardworking, proactive and committed Engineering team you will be responsible for asset reliability and diagnosing and resolving problems within your area of expertise. Youll have the opportunity to positively contribute to our operations and provided with coaching, support and training for the specific technology we use.
  • Materials Handling (including Ore Grinding and Screening plant)
  • Exotic materials from A105 to Zecor, Titanium and Tantalum.
  • Leading edge process control, including DCS and PLC systems
  • Process package plants
  • High Pressure Acid Leach, and Oxygen Leach
  • Sulphuric Acid Plant
  • Power Plant: Package Boilers Steam Turbines and a Gas Turbine with HRSG
  • Hydrogen Sulphide plant
  • Water Treatment with RO Plant, Ion Exchange
  • BOC Plant with an ASU and a Hydrogen Reformer
  • Solvent extraction
  • Ammonium Sulphate Plant
  • Reduction Autoclaves
  • Sintering Furnaces


About You

This role would suit a candidate who is a proactive, safety focused professional and can demonstrate:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering and proven post-graduate experience. In addition, youll also be inquisitive, with excellent critical thinking ability and problem solving skills.
  • Experience working in a professional engineering environment, using current engineering tools and work flows to efficiently complete tasks.
  • Experience in the field of instrumentation, including design, selection and installation, datasheets, documentation and maintenance
  • Experience with selection of control and shutdown valves, including preparing and maintaining datasheets, procurement support and ensuring back end systems are in place for maintenance
  • Experience in management of Hazardous Areas assets
  • Fundamental understanding of, and experience working under, RCM philosophy including management of maintenance programs and failure investigations
  • Experience with executing instrument and electrical project work
  • Experience in a hydro-metallurgical or complex plant environment is preferred but not essential
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate and exchange information effectively to a wide range of people.
