About Your Role

Our Mulwala site is renowned across the world for producing high quality propellants for defence and commercial customers.

The Product Development Engineer/Scientist is responsible for supporting all aspects of research and development including; new materials, processes, method development, test methods, propellants, explosives and pyrotechnic compositions, ordnance products, and solid rocket motor systems, this role also includes involvement in industrialisation of these products.

  • Perform laboratory, small scale/pilot plant operations and production trials with both energetic and non-energetic materials to support R&D development programs

  • Develop and apply a sound knowledge and experience in ammunition, explosive ordnance and/or Rocket Motors and associated manufacturing technology.

  • Providing production support to operations teams including product quality resolutions and assist with root cause investigations

  • Driving or actively participating in continuous improvement projects.

  • Ensuring product/process designs are capable of being readily industrialised and hence meet design for manufacture requirements, within schedule and budget

How About You?

  • Degree qualified engineer or scientist or demonstrated equivalent experience

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, design or related industry in a professional role, or to be able to demonstrate a sound technical understanding of engineering solutions

  • Interpersonal influence and stakeholder management skills, as well as the ability to work at multi-levels of the organisation.

  • Sound conceptual and analytical skills; root cause analysis and investigation skills

  • Knowledge and experience in Solid Rocket motors, Hypersonics and or Explosive Ordnance would be highly regarded
