The Role

The primary purpose of this role is to provide design, implementation and support of Linux and OpenStack systems and solutions, both traditional and cloud based to IAG.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your capabilities and skills so that they can be utilised more broadly within Group Technology and IAG.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Strategy

  • Support the implementation of the CTO strategic plan and divisional strategies and roadmaps.
  • Be an advocate for the Group Technology Strategy

Operational Performance

  • Systems Administer, install, configure and maintain the health of Linux servers.
  • Provide design and direction to innovative solutions that entail Linuz and Openstack, Tower, Satellite.
  • Assist in roadmap and strategy alongside Architectural teams
  • The role will monitor the important services and servers, troubleshoot the server related issues and make sure that proper backup is provided for the network equipment configurations.
  • Maintaining and writing/modifying scripts for application deployments as well as system monitoring.
  • To do all supporting tasks that are included, but not limited to code deployment, managing source control systems, virtual servers, scripting, etc.
  • Technical Point of contact for everything Linux and Openstack.


  • Establish and foster positive and constructive relationships with cross functional teams and business stakeholders
  • Gather requirements from a range of stakeholders within the business, especially key architects.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong stakeholder management skills – demonstrated through both direct accountability roles and indirect responsibility roles
  • Effective planning, co-ordinating and managing timeframes to achieve deliverables and business outcomes
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Technical Skills: Linux Redhat; Openstack, Tower, Ansible, Satellite, Scripting, Automation, exposure to Pipeline and CICD advantageous.
  • Previous experience with: Scripting, SAN based and hyper converged storage, storage infrastructure management, Infrastructure services technologies (AD, DHCP, DNS, IIS etc)
  • Networking, VLANS
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or related fields.
  • Linux Certification – Desirable
  • General Insurance Experience – Desirable
