JOB DESCRIPTION

The role assists in civil engineering and construction processes and supervision of the relevant subcontractors.

Education Requirements:

Tertiary qualification or 3 years relevant experience

Knowledge Requirements (Technical Competencies):

  • Interpreting work assignment instructions, applying appropriate procedures and selecting and vetting the appropriate equipment
  • Construction management
  • Quality management
  • Construction field planning and supervision

Preferred Work Experience: Proven track record of minimum 3 years experience in civil technical procedures, and in particular engineering and construction activity

Other (qualifications, certifications, professional memberships etc.):

  • Ability to interpret civil and mechanical construction drawings is essential
  • Fluency in English essential (both spoken and written)
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors to determine project civil and mechanical needs 
  • Responsible for field technical operations in solar construction processes
  • Collect data and carry out structural calculations and analysis
  • Conduct field and laboratory tests of relevant construction materials
  • Schedule work to be performed and provide necessary inputs to 3 Week Look Ahead.
  • Monitor work activities and ensure the quality of work accomplished.
  • Ensure the most current design documentation is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
  • Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
  • Monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance, quality and performance.
  • Manage all changes outside of the defined scope
  • Complete final work pack sign-off verifying completion of the defined scope
  • Investigate and assist with the management of Field Discrepancies
  • Show outstanding leadership and commitment to HSE and Quality
  • Ensure all personnel participate in the identification and elimination of hazards
  • Work to make sure contract terms are fulfilled and disputes are resolved.
  • Support the logistic manager and the procurement manager to make sure that products arrive on time and are purchased at lowest possible cost.
  • Supervise workers, managers, and subcontractors to ensure their work follows plans and is on schedule.
  • Analyse the drawings related to the civil/mechanical works package from Engineering and subcontractors.
  • Ensure works are delivered as per contract specification agreements.
  • Effectively communicate any issues to the relevant parties

Managing the civil and mechanical works on site from inception to completion, ensuring that it is delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
