The Role
We are looking for an individual with a special skillset to fill the role of Senior Engineer – Operational Technology. This position sits within the Network & Infrastructure Division and is responsible for providing engineering design, development, modification and monitoring services for operational technology and other infrastructure asset management systems ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. The incumbent will lead the planning and implementation of new systems and technology, including testing of equipment as Test Engineer or as Witnessing Engineer for Contractor’s testing and commissioning. They will prepare, review and develop technical specifications, engineering maintenance instructions, service schedules, work practices, type approvals and technical training manuals.
To be considered for this position you will need:
- Possession of an appropriate Engineering Degree that would satisfy the admission requirement for corporate membership to the Institute of Engineers Australia OR an appropriate Engineering Diploma qualification and extensive relevant railway engineering experience;
- Detailed knowledge and experience (recent) in the design and commissioning of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) installations and SCADA systems;
- Substantial experience in train control systems including fault finding of train control systems, SCADA systems, PLC installations, power signalling and associated field equipment.
This is a fixed term appointment of 18 months with a possibility of extension and/or permanency. Applicants must be in possession of a current WA ‘C’ or ‘C-A’ class Driver’s Licence or equivalent; have the ability to work unsociable hours; be available for callouts; and to travel and stay away from home station, sometimes at short notice.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months from which fixed term appointments with possibility of extension and/or permanency will be made.
