About the role:

This senior technical role is responsible for providing high quality technical advice (as subject matter experts in the Network technology stream), providing technical leadership in alignment with the Technical Delivery Process (TDP), and maintaining the architectural integrity of MNS systems and services in support of the Client Managed Network Services (MNS).

This role reports to the Chief Architect either directly or indirectly via a Lead Architect. This role is based at client's site in Canberra.

The Network Operational Architect is responsible for:

  • Technical Oversight of the implementation of change
    • Technical Leadership including performing the role of Technical Lead on medium size projects (large projects may require a dedicated Technical Lead)
    • Ownership of architectural documentation
  • Governance
    • Architectural assurance role (including reviewing Solution Proposals for architectural validity and completeness)
  • Lifecycle Evolution
    • Development of Roadmaps and Strategies relevant to applicable systems
  • Pre-Sales Assistance
    • Contributing to preliminary customer workshops and planning efforts (in advance of Non-Standard Service Requests (NSSR))
    • Assisting Solution Owners to develop sound solutions (including contributing technical content to Solution Proposals (SP), Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and resource planning)
    • Assisting Solution Owners to gather Stakeholder Requirements (where required)
    • Ensuring every proposal covers not only the Technical aspects of the solution, but also the operational requirements across people, processes and technology of a managed service.
  • Operational Support
    • 3rd Level Support for incident and problem management (including liaison with the customer, vendors and partners)
    • IT Service Continuity analysis (understanding of Redundancy, Failure Modes and Resiliency of systems)
    • Capacity/Availability Planning (with System Owners, including proactive upgrades)
    • Supportability awareness (with System Owners, including development of the Support Model and knowledge of the currency of hardware, software and maintenance contracts)
    • Maturing the operational capabilities of the managed services provided to the client.

Must have exposure to:

  • Cisco ACI technology in Multi-pod environment
  • DMVPN
  • Cisco Wireless
  • Cisco ISE
  • Cisco Prime
  • F5
  • Netscout
  • Routing (BGP and OSPF)
  • Cisco Switching
  • Familiarity with AWS and Azure Cloud connections (Routing and Switching component)
  • Tools used for Network monitoring
  • Automation of Network Functions

Desirable Skills

  • Hosting environment (VMware Environment)
  • NetApp Storage
