We are searching for an API Engineer to join the team and play a key role in delivering on our vision and growth goals.

About the role

We are on the lookout for an API Engineer who can work with the development team to deliver on an ambitious product roadmap. 

As an API Engineer, you will assist with the ongoing development and maintenance of our API ecosystem. You will be an integral part of our Digital Transformation program; developing features and functions of various complexity, executing day-to-day configuration, API support, maintenance, and improvement of our core API platform. 

Working closely with our technical and business leaders, you will design a range of improvements that meet the current needs of the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Utilise current backend development techniques and tools to deliver successful applications.
  • Collaborate with team members (frontend devs, business owner, product manager etc) to design and develop required solutions. 
  • Development activities for to support and enhance Rails API applications built on Ruby, SQL and AWS
  • Ensure quality outcomes through the planning and execution of unit testing and systems testing (where required) of new features / solutions.

Skills and experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar API Engineer position.
  • Architectural design experience for complex solutions.
  • Strong Ruby (We are using Rails) experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of restful API design practices
  • Knowledge of AWS products (RDS, ElasticBeanstalk, Cloudfront, Load balance etc.)
  • Solid OOP experience.
  • Unit/Integration testing (rspec)
  • Salesforce knowledge is a plus.
  • Sound communication and relationship skills; verbal and written.
