Fire Protection Technologies specialises in the design and supply of special hazard fire protection systems and equipment to the Australian, New Zealand and South East Asian markets and to a wide range of clients.

Our plan to hire a Mechanical Engineer is critical to the continued development and diversification of the company. The role of the Mechanical Engineer at Fire Protection Technologies is unique in that we require a person with both electrical and mechanical engineering skills as well as being intimately familiar with the behaviour of various types of fires and the methods that can be employed to detect and extinguish them.

Specifically, we require someone who has experience with the design and engineering of:

  • Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems
  • Linear Heat, Flame, Video and Infra Red fire detection systems
  • Fire Detection and Control Panels
  • Explosion protection systems
  • Foam fire extinguishing systems
  • Wet chemical and dry chemical systems
  • Water mist systems

As Mechanical Engineer, you will be accountable for:

  • Design and technical assistance for fire detection and suppression systems
  • Liaising with other engineers for successful testing and commissioning of fire detection systems
  • Utilise project management software (Primavera) to produce project plans and relevant drawing/document registers showing the complete history, status, comments, revisions etc of all drawings/documents
  • Preparation & review of project documentation including specifications, drawings, reports, 1TP, parts lists etc to ensure efficiency, compliance and completion on time
  • Procurement of specialised equipment
  • Recording, checking and tracking of all incoming and outgoing project documents
  • Ensure that project deliverables are provided in accordance with contract program
  • Site inspection and survey to ensure that standards are met
  • Preparing regular project reports for the client

Skills / Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer
  • Primavera P6 experience will be highly regarded
  • The ability to work autonomously and enjoy working as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Sound computer skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills.

Annual Salary: $97,000 + Super
