Job Title: Reliability Engineering Lead (SRE) - Institutional

At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive and to achieve this, we need a talented Engineering Lead to join our fixed income tribe. The Team mission is to focusing on the stability and reliability of SKY platform, ANZ in-house risk and pricing system.
Our Engineers design, build, test and support applications and/or underlying bank platforms. They work closely with other squad members to ensure outcomes meet customer expectations.
What does a 'day in the life' look like:
  • Lead a team of Software/Systems Engineers focusing on the stability and reliability of SKY platform, ANZ in-house risk and pricing system
  • Manage end-to-end availability and performance of mission critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
  • Lead by example, care for the team, and establish credibility with the quality of the teams' technical execution.
  • Manage on-call rotations across continents, using a follow-the-sun model.
  • Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of SKY services.
  • Coordinate the documentation effort through precise transcripts of incident post-mortems, problem description and overall quality documentation
  • Implements a culture within the Tribe and the Chapter, encouraging best practices around reviews, quality and documentation
  • Contributes to Engineering communities, meetups and conferences to promote technology development culture and practices
What will be in your toolkit:
  • Hands-on technical experience
  • Experience integrating and managing globally distributed teams of experienced Engineers
  • Capable of technical deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems and storage
  • Deep understanding of Software Engineering and Computer Science principles
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understand customer needs to make sound judgments
  • Pays attention to the detail and demonstrates problem solving capability to develop and deliver quality solutions
  • Understanding of current state landscape and relevant technologies
  • Has a broad understanding of how to apply New Ways of Working to their role
Specialised Skills :
We are looking for T-shaped individuals (expert in some, novice in others) across these skillsets:
  • Experience working with one or more of the following: C, C , Java and/or Python.
  • Hands-on expertise in Windows servers administration and troubleshooting
  • Good understanding of a High Performance Computing distributed architecture ideally on the Windows platform (Microsoft HPC)
  • A desire to write tools and applications to automate work eg with Python rather than do everything by hand.
  • Strong programming and scripting fundamentals in Java, Python, Javascript, Powershell/Shell, yaml, Cucumber.
  • Experience in standardised systems configuration/installation/deploy tools - Ansible, uDeploy.
  • Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
