About The Role

We are looking for an Engineering Systems Integration Specialist to provide support, advisory and consulting services for the successful deployment, implementation, configuration, maintenance and integration of the Rio Tinto suite of engineering and design software tools, applications and associated systems. You will be responsible for the successful integration of the tools, requiring a detailed knowledge of a range of design software, as well as the functional requirements of other project stakeholders such as Project Controls, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Operations.

Reporting to the Manager Digital Engineering and working in a new small influential team within an exciting environment within Rio Tinto Projects, you will
  • Coordinate input from all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle including during system setup and implementation, through project deployment and into the support phase for major project execution through to handover.
  • Facilitate the deployment of project systems whilst delivering advice, governance, consulting, administration, training, configuration, customisation and support services for the integration of the Rio Tinto digital project delivery platform.
  • Translate project systems and data requirements into actionable activities for the implementation and support teams and facilitate the deployment of systems to support deliverable generation and data requirements.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of data transfers, interfaces and integrations between systems internally and externally to the platform.
  • Lead the development (including authoring) of procedural and governance documentation for use in systems and project deployments as required.
  • Apply high level skills in the setup and use of intelligent, rules-based, data centric engineering and design systems including applications for 3D modelling, schematics, procurement & materials management, construction and commissioning.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Rio Tinto preferred digital project delivery platform applications as required to maintain current product knowledge and roadmap developments.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of database management which supports engineering data integration to fulfil customer and project requirements.
  • Undertake and manage multiple tasks and priorities requiring technical analysis, diagnosis and problem solving as required to support the full strategy implementation.
  • Advise management on industry standards and trends, compiling training documents and writing reports and proposals.


What You Will Bring

  • Project Information Management background with systems leadership experience and capability with Diploma level qualifications in an engineering or technical discipline is highly desirable. However, equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Substantial experience in resources industry plant design as part of a multi discipline project execution team in an Owner, EPC or EPCM organisation, with highly developed skills, knowledge and ability in the relevant systems environment.
  • Implementation and enforcement of common standards and work practices that facilitate multi-office/company project execution (work-sharing) and electronic data interchange, including project numbering systems, plant breakdown structure and systems-based workflows.
  • Creation of reports for a wide range of stakeholders using Power BI, Tableau or SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Definition, implementation and management of data storage, database replication and data/document backup requirements to meet disaster recovery requirements in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Coordination of systems support and escalated issues resolution, including interfacing with project systems and engineering systems groups; IS&T services coordinators for IS&T systems and networking/infrastructure delivery and support; software suppliers for support/consultancy, where necessary; customer or third parties for systems interface issues resolution.
  • Strong experience in distributed systems architecture and object-oriented programming using eg, Azure, SQL, C# etc
  • Excellent verbal and written skills including technical writing skills
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, systems management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to document methods, workflows and training materials and ability to effectively deliver training and support to a variety of users.
