Freightquip provide equipment and support to a large range of customers from airlines and passenger rail operators, transport and logistics companies, through to mining companies. Located in Melbourne, Freightquip have a range of suppliers from across the globe.

Freightquip is currently seeking Industrial project sales engineer to work in on a full-time basis.

About the Role

The role will include working as part of a small team in the GSE department. You will have to handle different tasks including process management, BID Management, Technical support (aftersales) and spare parts and be able to switch between these different tasks easily as well as manage projects lifecycle from start to finish.

Your role will include:

Process management

  • Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
  • Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
  • Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.
  • Investigates and reviews the utilisation of personnel, facilities, equipment and materials, current operational processes and established practices, to recommend improvement in the efficiency of operations in a variety of commercial, industrial and production environments.
  • Schedule deliveries based on production forecasts, material substitutions, storage and handling facilities, and maintenance requirements.
  • Inspecting plant or industrial equipment to ensure optimum performance is maintained.
  • Regulate and alter workflow schedules according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times to expedite production operations.

BID Management

  • Acknowledge customers' requests (airports, airlines, Ground handlers, etc.) and distribute all TLD GSE products in Oceania (Australia, New-Zealand, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, etc...).
  • Participate in business management from prospecting to payment tracking through the development of offers in collaboration with the product support managers of the various Group sites.
  • Ensure that deadlines and quality are met, delivery, as well as commissioning at the customer’s premises and after-sales service.
  • May participate in trade shows located in your sector and internationally
  • Develop long-term sales plans for key customers 

Technical support:

  • Solve customers’ problems and identify market opportunities
  • Be able to go on-site troubleshoot and fix the issue.
  • Be the interface between the customers and the various services of the company and coordinate the relations with the Customer Service.
  • Assure the follow up in coordination with the factories and provide technical support for customers.
  • Translate technical documents from French to English and vice versa.

Spare parts:

  • Interpret the needs on customer side,
  • Generate technically accurate quotes in collaboration with the spare part based overseas.
  • Provide technical drawings, instructions and alternative solutions to the customers.

Skills and requirements:

The successful candidate will be a strong team player, able to quickly interpret instructions and act on them.

In addition to this the candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and should address these in their cover letter

  • 2 years’ experience minimum in ground support equipment (GSE) manufacturing and commercialisation at international level
  • Engineering or technical degree supplemented by commercial or project management experience required.
  • Have a strong knowledge in PLC application (able to read, modify and interpret the program).
  • Excellent troubleshooting analysis and diagnostic skills on system-based equipment.
  • Strong computer skills including competency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Be factory trained on GSE manufacturing process.
  • Be familiar with TLD GSE manufactured equipment.
  • Awareness of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems. (Able to read and understand schematics).
  • Be familiar with Lithium technology.
  • Current Australian drivers’ licence.
  • Able to travel alone and unsupervised at international level.
  • Fluent in French.
