WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Based at our Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE), the Program Systems Engineering Manager Land 400 Ph2 is a newly created position, and will play a key part in ensuring the Mission System delivered, will be fully compliant across all projects within Land 400 Phase 2.

About the role

The Program Systems Engineering Manager L400 Ph2 is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the L400 Ph2 systems engineering activities. This role will lead, develop and continuously improve the systems engineering activities to ensure that the Land 400 Ph2 engineering activities are completed and delivered in compliance with the L400 Ph2 program. This involves the integration and management of both, Australian and German engineering activities.

As the Program Systems Engineering Manager Land 400 Ph2, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

Oversee and manage the delivery of system engineering services as defined in Project L400 Phase 2;
Provide technical specialist advice and regular consultation to the Program Director and Chief Engineer/Technical Director;
Manage the Systems Engineering team allocated to L400 Phase 2;
Develop and maintain an engineering work breakdown structure and schedule;
Define appropriate engineering technical performance measures (e.g. mass, power, etc.), allocating performance budgets to the engineering work packages;
Ensure that the requirements defined in the engineering work packages have clear traceability back to the Contract Specification requirements and any relevant derived requirements;
Manage the Commonwealth design review process including preparation of packages for the various Mandated Systems Review activities;
Work closely with the RDA project team, Rheinmetall Land Systems (RLS) engineering teams and sub-contractors to develop assigned vehicle related engineering artefacts;
Delegate engineering activities to the RDA and RLS engineering staff according to contractual deliverables, including assisting in interpreting Land 400 Ph2 function and performance specifications as part of the AU and EU based design efforts;
Establish, maintain and continuously improve engineering services and business processes in accordance with the requirements of the TRAMM-L and RMMV Engineering governance;
Ensure the utilisation of RDA engineering tools and systems in accordance with relevant IT Security policies and system operations manuals;
Develop Sub System Specifications and Interface Control Documents to define engineering work packages for allocation to Rheinmetall Entities and external sub-contractors;
Provide guidance to global Rheinmetall Engineering teams to ensure understanding and compliance with contractual requirements, Australian certified engineering standards and ADF approved standards; and
Provide leadership to Systems Engineering Team, ensuring all L400 Ph2 projects are managed and delivered in the same way.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role include:
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical) or a related discipline;
Clear understanding of systems engineering process and functional baseline management from specification writing, requirement analysis and traceability through to system level design/architecture/interface, and requirements management;
Experience leading a multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical staff;
Demonstrated extensive experience in developing, implementing and maintaining Systems Engineering processes and its application to military vehicle programs;
Experience interpreting complex engineering function and performance specifications, and a capacity to identify existing technical solutions to meet these specifications;
Knowledge of ASDEFCON standards (Advantageous); and
Ability to travel interstate and internationally when required.
