About the project The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) has been a part of Australian defence landscape for many decades and comprises three Over-The-Horizon-Radar (OTHR) systems to provide surveillance coverage of our northern border. BAE Systems has been awarded the contract to manage the upgrade of this 100 percent Australian solution that is strategically important to Australia's security. About the Opportunity This new role has been created as a part pf the planning activities for JORN program . Being accountable for the design, development and implementation of electrical systems, you will be responsible for: * Requirements for facilities and infrastructure upgrades, in particular electrical distribution. * Baselining and evaluation of existing facilities. * Future (power and cooling) design and overseeing detailed design conducted by external vendor. The career path for you will be strong. You will have opportunities to transfer and broadly inject your capability into other domains/projects within BAE Systems in the future. In more specific terms you will: * Derive electrical system and equipment requirements, define the test requirements and participate in system design and requirements reviews * Develop electrical candidate solutions against requirements including their optimisation and present the solution in design reviews * Undertake functional analysis to identify the optimum solution against a set of requirements * Develop optimised electrical system designs and present the designs in design reviews * Undertake electronic system and equipment detailed design analysis to identify the optimum design for the defined system and/or equipment architecture * Undertake the translation of the electrical and equipment design into a manufacturable product and incorporate design for manufacture factors * Undertake the integration and validation of the electrical system and equipment design including contributing to the integration and validation plans and reports * Peer review of engineering data and artifacts * Gain and exercise Engineering Authority at Tier 3 in the Electrical domain About you As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have: * Demonstrated experience within the Electrical engineering discipline across industries like building , infrastructure , defence maritime etc * Working knowledge of developing electrical/electrical equipment designs, participation in design reviews, undertaking typical design analyses and implementation of electrical/electronic solutions, its integration, validation and qualification testing * Electronic and/or electrical engineering or technology degree qualified, satisfying the requirements for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia * Understanding of Systems Engineering including analysis, requirements development and interface definition skills advantageous * Doors Next Gen and CAMEO skills advantageous * Meet the requirements for registration as Chartered Engineer and preferably be a member of a professional body Don't meet every criteria listed above?
