About the position:
The City is seeking a Building Surveyor to join the Urban and Regional Development team. In this role you will be expected to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers, assess and process building applications ensuring compliance with the Building Act, Building Code of Australia, Building Regulations, Local Laws and relevant statutes.

Key accountabilities:
Process building applications and conduct inspections in accordance with the relevant Legislation.
Respond to general enquiries where required (personal, written or telephone) relating to building and development.
Assist and contribute towards the identification, development, implementation and review of guidelines, policies and procedures in relation to building surveying.
Assist with the implementation of Council resolutions and provide regular reports to the Coordinator Building Surveying on progress of action.
Liaise with other City Departments/Branches/Teams as necessary and external agencies as required for building applications.

Position requirements:
The successful applicant should have formal qualifications and experience as a building surveying practitioner Technician or higher level accreditation relevant to a Western Australian Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety requirements.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:
A salary starting from $79,205 per annum or $40.08 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
