The Position

Working as a Senior Estimator in Sydney in the Estimating Team you would be involved in tendering for projects including but not limited to Building and Construction projects.

Responsibilities will include:

During the Tendering stage:

  • Find, submit and win approved tenders for suitable work.
  • Monitor media for public Tenders and expressions of interest.
  • Evaluate the suitability of Tenders.
  • Receive and review Tender documents.
  • Check that contracts offered match the tender information.
  • Check the contract document, annexure and addendums.
  • Check the Bill or Schedule, Specifications and Drawings.
  • Attend Tender meetings on site.
  • Ensure that updated drawings and addendums are included in the Tender.
  • Obtain written quotes for key elements
  • Set up a costing method.
  • Prepare Tender Programs and prepare Tender submissions.
  • Evaluate and check the tenders.
  • Set an appropriate mark-up and submit the tenders.
  • Confirm with the Construction Manager that we have the capacity for more work.
  • Present the file to the management team for review and acceptance.
  • Costing and quantifying projects.
  • Obtaining market coverage for effective and competitive project costing.
  • Mentoring staff to achieve required outcomes.
  • Delivery of results.
  • Developing and managing unit and price rates.
  • Knowledge and ability to learn estimating software like Candy.

During the Construction stage:

  • Support the Project Managements team to construction start.
  • Check that the validity of quotes in the tender has not expired.
  • Draw up the Project budgets for winning Tenders.
  • Provide supporting information for Estimating to the Project Management team.
  • Responsible for the procurement of materials.

Required skills / qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and minimum 5 years' estimating experience
  • Experience in tendering for Building and Construction projects in reputed organizations
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Excellent Communication Skills
