Building & Construction Lawyer (3-5 PQE)

  • Permanent Part-time position (2-3 days)
  • Work autonomously from home
  • 3-5yrs PAE (more senior lawyers will also be considered)

We are a well-regarded boutique law practice specialising in building and construction law and litigation. We are seeking a passionate building and construction lawyer with at least 3 years’ PAE with strong front-end and litigation experience.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience in general building and construction law.
  • Experience with the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payments Act 2002, including Adjudications and litigation.
  • Review and negotiation of building contracts, including AS, ABIC, Master Builders and HIA contracts.
  • Experience in litigation including, VCAT, Magistrates’ Court, County Court and Supreme Court proceedings (including appearances)
  • Applications to the Building Appeals Board
  • Experience with VBA disciplinary matters against practitioners
  • Experience in property and planning law

Skills Required:

  • You will need at least 3 years PAE with sound experience in building and construction law and litigation
  • High level of drafting skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Positive attitude and a passion for building and construction law.

Work Eligibility:

  • Permitted to work permanently with no restriction on hours (e.g. citizen, permanent resident) (Required).

The Principal of the firm is a registered building practitioner and is highly regarded within the legal and building industries. The firm regularly advises and acts for building surveyors, engineers, builders, developers, architects, contractors, and other registered building practitioners. The firm predominantly practices within the courts and tribunals of Victoria and New South Wales, as well as within the Federal Courts.
