Senior Solutions Architect – Risk

How will I help?

Reporting to the Principal Architect, you will play an integral role in ensuring that the solution architecture aligns with the roadmaps established within the enterprise architecture, and that it adheres to endorsed architecture principles and patterns of Westpac Group. You will use your specialist expertise to provide Risk and Compliance solution architecture recommendations to guide IT investment and design decision making.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage architecture outcomes within projects, including the development of architecture component documentation, and obtain approval from key stakeholders to ensure that solutions are 'fit for purpose’
  • Apply high-level expertise knowledge of Risk systems to inform Solution Architecture on optimal designs and appropriate compromises to ensure high quality solutions are delivered
  • Track and review solutions through delivery phases to maintain effective governance, reporting and control to ensure that designs are compliant and aligned with stated architecture
  • Adherence to all IT and integration architecture policies, standards, frameworks and guidelines in the performance of the day-to-day activities
  • Obtain sign offs from business & IT stakeholders for architecture deliverables
  • Support solution architecture modelling processes, procedures & standards
  • Collaborate with core business SMEs and facilitate project team members in gathering and documenting scope, detailed service requirements and business rules

What do I need?

  • Hold key experience in Credit, Operational (including Fraud), Compliance Risk and Financial Crime (FATCA, AML, etc) architecture
  • Significant experience in IT systems architecture, specification and design, delivering major business solutions (application systems) into production
  • Demonstrated general architecture experience across multiple domains
  • Strong written and verbal communication and experience in consulting with senior stakeholders, core business SMEs and Project team members to elicit requirements & gain a detailed understanding of the use of the business data in the business process


  • Tertiary qualifications
  • Industry certifications and/or experience relevant to role
