About The Role

The Software Architect owns the software design for the team, and is the visionary force and primary doer behind the custom software component of the technical solution. The Software Architect values simplicity and is unafraid to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve an Agile design. The Software Architect works closely with all team members to create modular, scalable, reusable software components that addresses/incorporates future architectural changes and designs. The Software Architect helps to drive teams’ software engineering practices in test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated deployment, and is a hands-on team member who actively coaches the team to solve complex technical problems.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Works closely with the Solution Architect and / or Technical Lead to understand core custom software components that need to be built.
  • Designs the these overall custom software components of the product with the help of the team
  • Guides project teams on technology strategy related to coding practices, continuous integration and automated deployment
  • Responsible for the custom software design of the product
  • Mentors and coaches the technical team, specifically with code reviews
  • Be hands on and engage in coding to help the team to develop the solution and solve problems as they surface
  • Identifies and removes technical impediments
  • Creates core architectural software components and frameworks that can be used to bootstrap and speed up developers delivering software components
  • Provides the team a roadmap for implementing these core software components
  • Constantly looking for better ways of solving software development problems and designing the solution, not afraid of challenging the status quo
  • Shares responsibility with Product Owner for building reusable and scalable software components
  • Identifies technical debit and actively works to avoid it. Works closely with the Product Owner to explain the consequences of this and add any technical debit remediation to the roadmap.
About You

The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field required. Advanced degree is a strong plus.
  • Experience designing and building software applications.
  • Experience in Agile Development and technical backlog management, with specific Software Architect (or similar) experience preferred
  • Seasoned developer or technical lead experience with deep insight into newest technologies and trends
  • Comfortable and proven experience in architecting cloud native complex applications is a must.
  • Can make software related architecture decisions at a team and product level
  • Experience working on projects that span multiple business units
  • Strong communication skills with ability to align stakeholders on complex technical decisions
  • Experience with coaching and mentoring technical team members
  • Expertise in working with the tools and technologies relevant to the product team including, Frontend (Angular\React), Backend (.NET , C# \ Java), Databases, Data Streaming, Cloud Infra as a Code (Preferred AWS & Terraform), APIs.
  • Understanding of holistic custom software development technical practices, frameworks and tools.
