Job Description: 

A J Agri Pty Ltd is currently seeking to hire a full time Agricultural Engineer to join our team of engineers and technical specialists. Projects may include: irrigation designs, conservation practices, facility design, drainage, and utilities. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth and success of the business. 

The Agricultural Engineer will be responsible for providing technical guidance and the overall planning and design of the agricultural engineering phases of irrigation activities. The Agricultural Engineer will provide engineering assistance, working with landowners and government entities to apply a variety of irrigation practices. 

Applicants must be self-motivated, be able to manage multiple projects, and have the ability to prioritize projects based on deadlines and importance. 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Perform site investigations, surveys, and data collection. 

  • Conduct outreach to provide farmers or others with information that can help them improve agricultural productivity and irrigation efforts. 

  • Prepare and review engineering designs with technical specifications and reports, including design calculations and engineering plans. 

  • Coordinate and attend meetings with project sponsors and project team members. 

  • Prepare cost estimates. 

  • Provide construction oversight. 

  • Research and prepare documentation, reports, and proposals. 

  • Support marketing efforts. 

  • Permitting assistance. 

  • Funding assistance. 

  • Occasional travel. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from an accredited university is must 

  • 2+ years of professional experience as an agricultural engineering 

  • Effectively communicate with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies. 

  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills. 

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Relevant computer skills preferred – Geopak, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, RUSLE2

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications 

  • Experience preparing engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates. 

  • Experience with construction administration is preferred. 

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal permitting processes and requirements. 

  • Knowledge/skills related to watershed assessment and planning tools/models, ArcGIS, and statistics 

  • Able to handle multiple tasks/projects at once 

  • Highly dependable, detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and responsive to tight or changing client-driven deadlines 

  • Able to interact well with co-workers and existing clients in a professional and confident manner 

  • Excitement to work in a dynamic work environment 

  • Willingness to learn new skills
