At Visy, our people make us stand out from the crowd. We’re always seeking solutions, opportunities and possibilities. We look for people who see what’s ahead and run towards it. These people are helping us to achieve our vision to become the global leader in sustainable packaging solutions. Together, we can create a better world.

The opportunity:

Pulp & paper is a big part of what we do at Visy.

We're proud of all the paper we produce, in particular our recycled paper. That's because, when we say it's recycled, we mean it! Our recycled paper includes approximately 98% post-consumer waste.

This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your career in the Pulp & Paper industry, where your focus will be to improve the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of the paper making process.

The Role:

Working closely with production and engineering teams, you will help ensure the mill meets production targets (tonnes per day), and customer quality specifications, through the application of Continuous Improvement Techniques.

Your engineering qualification coupled with practical mechanical and process knowledge of piping, pumps and valves will give you the foundations, we'll teach you the rest.

An interest in a challenging production environment is essential! You will need to thrive under pressure, have a passion for data analysis, and a head for problem solving.

Reporting to the Production Manager, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Ensure safe operations in accordance with Visy’s policies and procedures, and ensure all quality systems are complied with.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency and reliability improvements and the reduction in wastes.
  • Troubleshoot technical processing issues, and investigate failures and incidents to determine the root cause.
  • Resolve operational issues, reduce manufacturing downtime and identify process improvement.

You will fit right into the team if:

  • You have completed a Bachelor Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • You have some industry experience in a heavy manufacturing or processing environment.
  • You possess a high level of self-motivation and you are not afraid of a challenge.
  • You are aware of the at times physically challenging conditions as it is a humid and pulpy environment!

In return we offer a competitive remuneration package, challenging and stimulating work, and a great team environment with opportunities for career and personal growth and development.

When you join Visy, you’re joining a global leader dedicated to making serious progress in the sustainable packaging and recycling industries. We want to find solutions, make an impact and grow our business. If you can help us, you’ll fit right in. There’s never been a better time to join Visy!
