System Architect (Adelaide Land-Based Test Facility)

Naval Group Australia has one singular focus - to design and build 12 state-of-the-art submarines for our country. To support this, the Adelaide Land-Based Test Facility (ALBTF) will provide specialist expertise and testing services for equipment qualification and acceptance.

A unique and exciting opportunity exists for a System Architect to lead the technical activities in Australia for the preliminary, detailed and production designs, integration and transition of the ALBTF into operational service. This role ensures that the ALBTF that is compliant with the technical requirements and is fit for purpose.

More specifically, the System Architect will:
• Establish a deep understanding of operations concepts and requirements for the ALBTF.
• Define engineering plans and use these to monitor and control detailed design, integration and commissioning activities.
• Derive domain-specific requirements and ensure these requirements are flowed into the design
• Provide technical support to the procurement of ALBTF mechanical equipment and supplies to ensure requirements are correctly flowed to suppliers and that delivered supplies are compliant.
• Track key aspects of the evolving preliminary and detailed design solutions and uses this information to adjust the design, if appropriate.

The job will initially involve a short-term relocation to Cherbourg, France for approximately four months on-the-job training and familiarisation.

To be successful, the position suits a candidate that has:
• Demonstrated significant experience as a technical lead, in laboratory testing for industrial applications, including data measurement recording and analysis. Familiar with equipment qualification test policies, procedures and results.
• Tertiary degree or equivalent discipline in Engineering (essential). Post-graduate qualifications or experience in systems engineering highly preferred
• Demonstrated experience leading a team of engineers.
• Demonstrated experience in defence, maritime, automotive or energy sectors
