Noise and Vibration Engineer (Adelaide Land-Based Test Facility)

Naval Group Australia has one singular focus - to design and build 12 state-of-the-art submarines for our country. To support this, the Adelaide Land-Based Test Facility (ALBTF) will provide specialist expertise and testing services for equipment qualification and acceptance.

The Noise and Vibration Engineer will undertake technical activities in Australia, focussing on delivering the preliminary design, detailed design, integration and transition to operational service of noise & vibration test capabilities in the ALBTF. This role ensures that the ALBTF that is compliant with technical requirements and is fit for purpose.

More specifically, the Noise and Vibration Engineer will:
• Establish a deep understanding of the concept of operations and requirements for the allocated test articles and test benches.
• Follow engineering plans to perform preliminary and detailed design, integration verification, validation and acceptance activities.
• Provide technical support to the procurement of ALBTF noise & vibration test equipment and supplies to ensure requirements are correctly flowed to suppliers and that delivered supplies are compliant.
• Define and oversee verification and validation activities for their allocated systems to confirm compliance with system requirements and intent of the test regime.

The job will initially involve a short-term relocation to Cherbourg, France for approximately 7 months on-the-job training and familiarisation.

To be successful, the position suits a candidate that has:
• Demonstrated engineering experience designing, integrating or testing mechanical systems or assets, encompassing several of the following domains: noise and vibration of machines (pumps, electric motors, etc) and propellers, ambient noise in rooms, specification of noise and vibration test and trials for machines, anti-vibration equipment and technologies, and/ or acoustic tiles.
• Tertiary degree or equivalent discipline in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (essential). A post-graduate degree in acoustic or structural engineering would be desirable.
• Demonstrated high levels of commitment, personal drive and application in achieving organisational outcomes and the ability to perform under pressure.
