About The Role

We are recruiting for a Senior Engineering Superintendent at our Kooragang Island Manufacturing Centre overseeing our Asset Integrity department.

This leadership role holds the single point of accountability long term integrity and safety of critical process assets.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Maintenance Engineering, the successful candidate will be a member of KI line management team and will lead asset functional specialists to maintain critical assets and develop strategies to improve equipment availability.

To achieve this, they will provide leadership and guidance to achieve overall site business goals and affirm Orica’s commitment to living our charactered Values. Key to delivering the asset integrity strategy will be to lead functional specialists to exceed goals for safety and environment, maintenance, quality and reliability.

This will include providing clear definition of responsibilities and accountabilities to the team, driving a culture of accountability, and a high-quality standard of products that meet customer requirements.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Align all behaviours with Orica’s Chartered Values, Purpose and Strategy.
  • Develop a culture of safety-based continuous improvement across site asset management.
  • Provide visible leadership to prevent or correct behaviours or work conditions not consistent with Orica’s SH&E values or standards.
  • Provide leadership on site asset management strategy.
  • Facilitate problem solving for your team to determine root cause and effective actions.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, supply and planning teams to improve productivity and make necessary amendments to the asset management plan.


What You Will Bring
  • Role ideally suited to individuals with a minimum of eight (8) years engineering experience, including 5 years of people management, in a chemical manufacturing industry, preferably at a Major Hazard Facility.
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree (undergraduate or postgraduate)
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and facilitate change in large organisations.
  • Demonstrated safety acumen.
  • Strong technical engineering acumen with ability to understand complex assets and strategies
  • The ability to influence, create and implement strategic direction and actions with successful outcomes.
  • The ability to develop, coach and lead a team to successfully complete activities and assignments expeditiously.
