Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Mining Engineer, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The Principal Mining Engineer – Metalliferous provides leadership and expertise in technical, operational and financial functions relating to Mining Engineering with respect to both underground and open pit metalliferous operations, major projects and merger & acquisition activities.


In addition, the Principal Mining Engineer – Metalliferous is responsible for:
• Providing mining technical expertise to support senior Company management in the assessment of potential acquisitions or mergers.
• Work closely with the exploration team to assess deposits for mining potential following completion of drilling programs and to guide further work.
• Lead major studies in the mining engineering function to ensure the mine plan strategy is robust, optimised and deliverable.
• Assist relevant sites with technical advice and peer reviews.
• Provide technical advice to other Corporate functions as required.
• Assist in integration tasks for newly acquired assets.
• Assist in the annual JORC Ore Resource and Reserve estimating and reporting as required.
• Prepare internal and external reports as required.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications
• A bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or in a related engineering discipline is required.
• Previous experience as a JORC Competent Person is highly regarded.

Experience
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in technical or operational roles of large metalliferous mines.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior technical role with exposure to both Underground and Open Pit.
• Experience in Nickel, Lithium and Copper is highly regarded.

Skills
• Demonstrated technical ability in strategic mine planning.
• Exposure to mining project evaluation.
• Solid people management skills and experience in roles where influencing people is a critical skill.
• Proven track record of innovative problem solving.
• Proven ability to undertake methodical, accurate and timely analysis of data and other information.
• Good understanding of mine planning software including their applications and limitations.
• Strong teamwork, planning and organisational skills.
• High regard for attention to detail including an advanced level of report writing skills.
