Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in circuit board level design engineering, including CPU/chipset, memory, high speed communication interfaces, and/or power supplies.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience in the design and development of high speed digital and/or analog boards and systems.
  • Experience with PCB-level design engineering of system boards, including CPU/chipset, memory, high-speed communication interfaces and DC/DC switching converters.
  • Familiarity with CPU internal architecture, software development from firmware through system level, and security.

The Chrome OS Hardware team is responsible for developing reference designs for partners and helping them bring devices to market. As a Hardware Systems Engineer, you will design, develop and deploy next generation consumer hardware. You have a hardware board design background. You will define board layout constraints and requirements, oversee physical engineering design layout, and work cross-functionally on system integration. You will also work cross functionally with firmware and kernel software engineers and OEM partners to bring devices to market.


  • Design, develop, and review portable computers and their sub-components from concept to mass production.
  • Drive resolution of cross-functional issues including those related to architecture (performance, power consumption, thermal behavior), production (quality, failure analysis, manufacturing), and development (schematic design and review, PCB layout, and overall system integration).
  • Participate in the development of next generation portable computers.
  • Detailed hands-on development of the motherboard and/or peripheral boards of the systems.
