About The Role

As the Asset Estimating Engineer at Thiess, reporting to the Asset Estimating Manager, you will work with business development and other asset management and operations teams to deliver high-quality solutions and estimates for our current and prospective project opportunities.

Responsibilities

In this role, your primary responsibilities will include

  • Supporting the development of plant rates and maintenance cost estimates for tenders
  • Carrying out periodic plant rate adjustments on existing projects for break-even results
  • Analysing project costs for monthly result reviews and tender benchmarking
  • Completing asset life reviews considering operating costs, major component cycles, ownership costs and overhaul requirements
  • Providing input into asset selection for new work based on idle or new fleet availability, considering productivity, reliability and cost
  • Supporting operations and the asset team in asset management administration processes (asset setup, movements, capitalisation, strategies, budgets)
  • Liaising with OEMs and Thiess content experts to ensure asset rates are in line with the most accurate costs


About You

To be considered for this role, you will have:
  • A university degree in engineering
  • Completed a graduate program within the mining industry
  • At least three years experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance roles preferred
  • Proficiencies in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using JDE or other computerised maintenance management systems
  • Macro or VBA experience will be beneficial
