Brisbane City Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) professional looking to work in a committed Zero Harm organisation.

The Organisational Safety team manages the Organisational Zero Harm strategy, policy, management systems and associated initiatives and projects as well as providing a range of services such as Zero Harm data collection, analysis, monitoring and reporting.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a period of up to 12 months for the role of WHS Advisor within the Organisational Safety team. As a WHS Advisor you will work with stakeholders across Council to assist in the delivery of the Zero Harm Strategy and Roadmap.

In this role you will provide advice, strategies, guidelines and communication materials to improve organisational safety outcomes across the division.

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with the team to provide health and safety advice, support, guidance and information to stakeholders and management
  • provide advice and support to management and stakeholders regarding the implementation of WHS initiatives and improvements
  • monitor and support incident reporting and investigation processes and assist in data reporting and analysis.

 Key skills required include:

  • Demonstrated verbal, negotiation and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively to management and employees, providing credible, accurate and professional advice
  • analytical, research and interpretive skills, including the ability to effectively communicate across all levels
  • sound knowledge of risk management principles, and ability to understand and apply WHS legislation
  • demonstrated ability to effectively develop and communicate high quality WHS advice, reports, guidance and information.
