Our client is a leader in Sydney's Ground Engineering and Earthworks industry. They are searching for an 3-5 year experienced WHS Officer to join their team for a permanent and full time position. 

With offices based in the Sutherland shire, this company specialises in all areas of piling, ground engineering, shotcrete & anchoring, and demolition & earthworks. 

Representing the company as a WHS Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting onsite inspections, toolbox talks, Yard inspections / Office inspections,
  • Weekly Safety Walk at Central Station / monthly safety meeting at Central Station,
  • Encourage participation from crews to complete site inspections / hazard reports,
  • Incident investigations / report writing / safety alerts,
  • Communicate issues on site with relevant PM (for issues that cannot be fixed there and there on site / or issues that require input from PM), follow up and close out,
  • Travel interstate as required,
  • Maintain registers (action register, test & tag register, fire equipment register, non-conformance register),
  • Attend fortnightly yard meeting, fortnightly safety management meeting, weekly safety team meeting,
  • Research into new products that could benefit the company and improve safety of workforce,
  • Internal audits,
  • Assist with ISO audit preparation,
  • Update SWMS as requested / responding to clients regarding SWMS / communicate with PM for job specific risk that apply,
  • Amend SMP/EMP as required (mostly for jobs where we are the PC),
  • Basic RTW notification process (as required / relief work),
  • PRA consultation with Plant & Maintenance Manager (as required),
  • Drug & Alcohol testing (post serious incident / vehicle incidents / plant incidents / at cause / random,
  • Respirator fit testing,
  • Adhoc tasks.

To qualify, you must have: 
  • Degree or Certificates in WHS
  • 3-5 years of on-site experience
  • Experience across high-risk, civil construction is desired 
  • Self-starter and strong work ethic
  • Ability to pass Medical & Drug Screening
  • Full Australian work rights
