About the role

The Security team is accountable for information security operations and the day-to-day management of security technologies within Coles. This includes, security policy enforcement, security project design and implementation extending through to internal enterprise and cloud security architectures.

The Senior Network Security Engineer will be managing a variety of core security platforms across the Coles business, giving expert advice to internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing

As the Senior Network Security Engineer your focus will be, but not limit to, the management and support across our NGFW fleet. You’ll have managed various security projects within a large enterprise using Palo Alto, Fortinet, Forcepoint or Checkpoint NFGW’s.

You have an innate ability to problem solve, strive for change, and bring vast security experience on delivering large-scaled projects and solving high-pressure enterprise-grade technical issues.

Within your past experiences, you will have developed your ability to communicate complex issues to internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner and offer ongoing strategic advice to improve productivity.

You’ll also:

  • Bring extensive experience in troubleshooting exploiting security consoles as well as using other tools including Splunk, Wireshark and Extrahop.
  • Manage patching, upgrade, performance monitoring, and tuning of security platforms.
  • Have industry experience on Firewalls and email filtering, anti-spam ideally, Mimecast or Proofpoint.
  • Manage operational oversight on change management, patch management and support documentation quality control.
  • Participate or orchestrate in major incident response activity.
  • Perform network-centric security risk assessments for IT activities and projects.

Good things you’ll need

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Network Security Engineer to manage security critical projects and systems. You will lead the end-to-end project delivery across our security and infrastructure division.

You are the SME, supporting various security issues offering expert advice to internal and external stakeholders across the entire organisation. You will perform network security projects and operational functions across a range of security platforms/vendors.

You’ll also need

  • Experience in delivering large enterprise security solutions.
  • Experience in leasing with application, architecture, development, and information security teams to ensure the business meets IT Security standards.
  • Solid understanding in network security frameworks (SANS, NIST, ASD, Mitre ATT&CK, OWASP), principles, disciplines, and infrastructure.
  • Industry experience in Email standards: DMARC/DKIM/SPF, Endpoint Protection (EPP/EDR/XDR), Web filtering (SSL inspection), network access control and VPNs (SSL/IPSEC), WAF, network access control.
