About the role

The Security team is accountable for information security operations and the day-to-day management of security technologies within Coles.

This includes, security policy enforcement, security infrastructure stability and monitoring, maintaining the enterprise and cloud security architecture, data leakage protection (DLP), and penetration testing services to systems.

What you’ll be doing

The Security Engineer will manage a variety of core security requirements with a focus on Next Generation Firewall technologies NGFW, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and vulnerability scanning.

You’ll oversee the hygiene, monitoring and incident response of major security technologies platforms. You’ll participate in end-to-end project delivery on complex security issues across Coles’ enterprise security network.

This role will have you working independently or part of a team, offering professional support across a fast-paced and ever-changing security network.

You’ll also:

  • Have great experience in NGFW, Symantec DLP and/or Tenable vulnerability scanning.
  • Bring experience in troubleshooting, using data mining or network analysis tools including, Splunk, Wireshark and Extrahop.
  • Manage patching, upgrade, performance monitoring and the tuning of security platforms.
  • Manage operational oversight on change management, patch management and support the documentation of quality control.
  • Participate in major incident response activity.
  • Perform network-centric security risk assessments for IT activities and projects.

Good things you’ll need

You have an innate ability to problem solve, strive for change, and bring security experience on delivering large-scaled projects and solving high-pressure technical issues across the business.

Through your career you have worked across large enterprises businesses, and delivered complex security issues, offering expert advice on managing end-to-end projects across various businesses.

As the Security Engineer you participate in critical security projects and systems. You will show a healthy appetite on self-development, keeping up to date on new exciting technology and ensure companies’ best practice.

You’ll also need

  • Experience in delivering large enterprise security solutions.
  • Experience in leasing with application, architecture, development and information security teams to ensure the Coles business meets IT Security standards.
  • Solid understanding in network security frameworks (SANS, NIST, ASD, Mitre ATT&CK, OWASP), principles, disciplines and infrastructure.
  • Industry experience in Endpoint Protection (EPP/EDR), Email filtering, Web filtering (SSL inspection), network access control and VPNs (SSL/IPSEC), WAF, network access control.
