About The Team

The People Branch is part of Chief Operating Officers Group within the Corporate and Digital Division. The branch provides a wide variety of HR functions to support a high performing workforce. The Workplace Health and Safety Team sits within the Workplace Health and Safety and Case Management Section of the People Branch.

Our Ideal Candidate

Are you passionate about Work Health and Safety (WHS) and keen to make a real impact? We are looking for innovative and forward thinking WHS professional to support the delivery of strategic and operational WHS functions for the department. Highly Desirable

Applicants with demonstrated experience and/or qualifications in WHS related fields or experience and/or qualifications in similar fields will be highly regarded.

What You Will Do

As the Assistant Manager, Work Health and Safety you will be responsible for:
  • driving safety culture and continuous improvement within the organisation through the projects delivered in the Safety Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
  • engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to identify and manage risks and hazards so far as is reasonably practicable.
  • providing WHS advice to a variety of stakeholders on complex and high risk operational activities.
  • developing health and safety strategies to improve the safety and wellbeing of DISER employees.
  • preparing and delivering briefs to committees and other stakeholders.
  • aligning WHS with DISER’s vision, culture and values.
  • leading a small team in conjunction with your fellow Assistant Manager, Work Health Safety.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment in the Australian Public Service and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

Notes

This job is being used to fill an immediate EL 1 vacancy. A merit pool may be established and used to fill future similar vacancies.
