About the role

Deliver state-of-the-art engineering design, planning and inspection services for bulk water related projects, that are high quality, economically viable, safe and serviceable. The role involves interacting with service delivery groups, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of engineering technology, and providing input into proposal submissions. 

This is a max term position until August 2022.

Key Accountabilities

  • Delivering safe engineering design, planning and inspection services for the delivery of dam safety upgrade projects, bulk water and irrigation system asset refurbishment and enhancement projects and other augmented or new bulk water infrastructure projects
  • Providing effective detailed engineering designs for bulk water related infrastructure which are high quality, economically viable, safe and serviceable
  • Providing timely and relevant reporting to the Engineering Design Manager, and others as required, on engineering project progress, including against agreed program and budget, project risks and delivery issues.
  • Applying Sunwater’s design and project management processes in the delivery of services
  • Effective participation as a proactive member of engineering and project teams, and maintenance of good working relationships
  • Supervision of construction activities to ensure that they are undertaken to the specified quality, proceed on schedule and are achieved within budget
  • Interacting with the Service Delivery groups to ensure appropriate asset management and operational requirements are included in engineering designs
  • Preparing briefs and managing contracts for the engagement of consultants for outsourced engineering work, and the monitoring of contractors’ performance to ensure quality outputs
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of engineering technology advancements and legislative requirements
  • Positively promote and actively role model the Sunwater values and behaviours to support the delivery of our services
  • Effective delivery of services to meet performance targets within the constraints of time and budget and managing and contributing effectively to project teams to enhance organisational performance
  • Being agile, thinking holistically and innovatively and adapting to resolve issues, ensure the achievement of organisational objectives and the management of project risks and opportunities
  • Maintaining highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives

Experience / Qualifications

Qualifications:• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering• Class ‘C’ driver’s licence Demonstrated experience in:• an engineering position involved in the planning, investigation, design and delivery of bulk water infrastructure• thinking innovatively and adapting, as necessary, to resolve issues, ensure the management of project risks and opportunities, and achieve project objectives• working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives• producing high quality written communications, and preparing written technical reports, memos, presentations, and other communications in a clear and logical manner
