Design / Engineering Manager - Sydney

This is an excellent time for a Design / Engineering Manager to join this growing organisation as they are increasing headcount due to the project wins which have been developing over the past 3 - 6 months.

Design / Engineering Manager - Sydney

Role responsibilities

Management and delivery of engineering projects and professional services commissions, primarily
in the development of designs and engineering solutions to meet the customer’s needs.
  • Provide management and technical support to the Director, Engineering and Project Management
  • and/or nominated Project Director(s) for specific projects, as required to meet project requirements
  • and Customer expectations.
  • Responsible for all aspects of job and project level planning and the development of the project
  • management plans, including scheduling, resource planning, and financial management to meet
  • project timelines and budgets.
  • Responsible for reporting on job and project performance, and the development and implementation
  • of corrective actions as required.
  • Prepare and maintain project level management systems, including Project/Design Management,
  • Safety, Environmental, and Quality Plan as required.
  • Liaison with Statutory Authorities and other stakeholders, as required to meet project objectives.
  • Minimise company exposure and risk through the management of scope and expectations.
  • Assist in the preparation of project briefs and contract documents for the procurement of sub-consultants,
  • as required to deliver project requirements.
  • Administer contracts and subcontracts.
  • Where required, procure, manage and coordinate necessary subject matter experts and/or design consultants to prepare and deliver the design documentation, identifying the scope of designs, interfaces, risks and opportunities, planning requirements, environmental and safety requirements, and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Degree qualifications in Engineering or similar.
  • Competent in time management tools, including MS Project, Primavera, or similar.
  • Competent in MS Office applications.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in design management or other relevant disciplines.
  • Strong track record in successfully managing and completing large multidisciplinary engineering
  • projects.
  • Highly developed problem resolution and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed dispute resolution.
  • Strong track record in resolving commercial issues.
  • Knowledge of standard engineering contracts
  • Sound knowledge of: Principles of project management based on PMBOK Accepted industry standards for risk, safety, and environmental management
