Technical Sales Engineer

ONYX InSight is a growing technology and engineering organisation in the renewable energy sector. Our advanced sensing/IoT, software and machine learning products are deployed on wind turbines around the world. Head-quartered in the UK, we have offices in the US, Australia, India and Korea, and are part of the global BP organisation.

Due to strong organic growth and strategic investment by BP, we are now seeking a Sales Engineer with excellent consulting and project management skills to support our expansion in Australia. You will provide technical support to the business development process, and ensure that customers receive a high standard of service throughout the project implementation and delivery phase.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide technical support to the ONYX business development team at proposal stage

· Provide technical advice on project scope, feasibility and methodology

· Attend sales meetings and provide technical expertise

· Contribute to marketing activities, conference presentations and webinars.

· Prepare and deliver high-quality technical presentations

· Lead the project implementation phase from award through to delivery

· Ensure that projects are implemented on time and to a high quality standard

· Deliver expert technical consultancy in the areas of wind farm operations and maintenance

· Scope and specify consultancy projects, working closely with the commercial team

Person Specification

· Direct experience of working with sales in an international, project-based organisiation

· 5 years’ experience in technical roles relating to wind turbine technology or wind farm operations.

· Prior experience at a wind turbine OEM or renewables power producer/consulting firm

· Strong commercial and project management skills

· Specialist knowledge in one or more of – RCA and failure investigation, performance analysis, wind farm operations and maintenance, life extension, electrical components

· Data analysis skills

· Knowledge of latest predictive maintenance techniques relating to wind turbines

· Ability to prepare and deliver high quality reports and presentations

· Confident project manager, able to work effectively under pressure.

· Strong commercial knowledge - experienced in client/customer management.

· Works effectively to deadlines with minimum supervision

· Strong problem-solving skills; collaborates well with customers/colleagues regionally and globally.
