The Company

With several years of experience in the utility scale solar space, this EPC has assembled a world class team who are experts in this area. They are carving out a niche in the Australian market through their technical expertise and operational style, supported by engineering and procurement teams offshore.

The Role 

This is a 6 months fixed-term contract for an EPC Graduate Electrical Test Engineer to start immediately. You will be responsible for assisting and reporting to the Commissioning Manager with the duties outlined below, predominantly driving the delivery of the projects in terms of commissioning and assisting in the management of contractors. 

In order to be considered for this position, you will need to be based in Darwin or surrounding area, as you will be expected to work across three different Solar Farms projects just outside Darwin. This is not a FIFO role, however a work vehicle will be provided for use around the sites.

The Candidate Requirements
Recent Electrical Engineering Graduate or a licensed NT Electrician with Solar Commissioning experience with excellent communication skills, good computer skills and reporting and good level of maturity to be able to work with limited direct supervision across the sites. 

  • Working knowledge of the fundamental requirements of electrical engineering design
  • Ability to understand electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of power system analysis and simulation tools such as PSS E, PSCAD & PowerFactory would be beneficial but not essential
  • Good IT skills (MS Office)
  • Experience with mapping software GIS and AutoCAD preferred but not essential 
  • Passion and interest in the renewable energy industry
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • A pro-active, can-do attitude and the ability to hit the ground running
  • Interpersonal skills and friendly attitude towards people
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Able to travel nationally or interstate as required

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with grid connection compliance of solar projects in accordance with Network Service Providers (NSPs) Technical Codes
  • Assist with liaising with NSPs, technical consultants, SCADA providers, electrical equipment suppliers and electrical contractors.
  • Assist with the operation of existing assets
  • Assist with the preparing of submittals, reports, and other documentation
  • Assist with drawing updates using AutoCad
  • Assist in undertake technical due diligence on potential renewable energy projects under acquisition
  • Contribute to the delivery of projects within time and budget
  • Addressing and solving technical issues
