About the role and you:
Want to be a part of a dynamic national team who is instrumental in the delivery of outcome-focused transport solutions, targeted at delivering innovative and fit-for-purpose engineering outcomes? Our Future Transport Infrastructure - Bridge and Structures Team based in Brisbane is seeking a Principal Bridge & Structures Asset Management Engineer. The successful candidate must be proactive, take full accountability and responsibility to lead asset management projects across the asset life cycle and truly be passionate about making a difference within the transportation industry.
This position requires a combination of specialist technical knowledge of bridge and structures asset life cycle management, proven business development skills and mentorship skills to train and develop our young aspiring asset management engineers of tomorrow. An existing positive presence/reputation within the bridge and structures asset management industry is preferable, as is having the commitment and capability on client relationship management and build networks with partners and industry.
We are looking for talented applicants who can offer practical ‘can do’ skills with a strong background in Consulting Asset Management from within, Consultancy, or experience in the Road and Rail sectors will be highly regarded.
In this position you will:

  • Deliver key bridge and structures asset management projects.
  • Actively market ARRB’s bridge and structures asset management services.
  • Develop and build network of contacts and industry partners, identifying and pursuing project opportunities.
  • Be a source of technical knowledge in the bridge asset management area.
  • Have proven business development and client engagement skills.
  • Have a strong desire to further develop skills and capabilities to an expert level in the bridge asset management area.

We seek an individual who has:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience of which 5+ years’ must be solid consecutive Bridge Asset Management specific experience.
  • Demonstrable involvement in the bridge and structures engineering industry with proven skills and passion for leading and delivering innovation in asset management.
  • Bridge structural and condition assessment / rating skills backed by sound knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Sound report writing skills and advanced verbal/presentation communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, project management and team working skills.
  • Well-developed ‘can do’ problem solving capabilities and ability to deal with complex issues.
  • Eligibility for professional registration with MIEAust, RPEQ, CPEng, NER.
