Permanent full time role
Salary range $65,890 - $67,253 per annum, depending on experience, plus allowances
9 day working fortnight

The City of Busselton, located in the renowned ‘Cape to Cape’ sub-region of the South West of WA, is a dynamic and fast-growing local government authority. With its popularity as a great place to live, visit and play, the City of Busselton is one of the fastest growing areas in the State.

We are currently seeking a suitably qualified Construction Leading Hand to join our Construction and Maintenance team.

Based out of our Dunsborough depot, this role plays a key role in the construction, re-construction and maintenance of the City’s road system and associated infrastructure, in accordance with established City standards and procedures.

Managing a small team, this role controls assigned capital works and maintenance activities, ensuring completion of works to agreed standards, within budget and specified timeframes. This involves monitoring progress and quality of works, and monitoring costs to ensure expenditure is within budgetary limits.

To be considered for this role, applicants must include in their application a statement addressing the below listed selection criteria:

Minimum of 3 years previous experience in a similar position or related field of work.
Sound working knowledge of civil asset maintenance/construction principles and techniques.
Established leadership, time management and budget control skills.
Sound working knowledge of lifting equipment including slings, chains and wire ropes.
Thorough understanding of the operation of construction plant and equipment, plant operating procedures and pre-start checks.
Competence reading design plans.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additionally, applicants must have a current HR class driver’s licence and Construction Safety Awareness Card (Blue/White Card).
