Working primarily in the Building Maintenance team, this key role contributes to the maintenance and construction of Council’s plumbing services and assisting in maintaining Councils building assets.

The work will involve plumbing, drainage, sanitary, hot/cold water reticulation systems, roofing/guttering, pump maintenance and plumbing inspection/certification/compliance activities.

Position Overview

Working primarily in the Building Maintenance team, this role contributes to the maintenance and construction of Council’s plumbing services and assisting in maintaining Councils building assets. The work will involve plumbing, drainage, sanitary, hot/cold water reticiulation systems, roofing/guttering, pump maintenance and plumbing compliance activities.

Working without direct supervision the incumbent will be required to translate management requirements into action through teamwork and cooperation and actively seek to promote the best outcome for Council at all times. The incumbent will be required to manage their own work priorities to ensure the desired outcomes are achieved.

At times the role will involve assisting the Civil Construction team with storm water and other plumbing related tasks.

There may be future opportunities, subject to appropriate credentials, for the incumbent to provide support as relief Plumbing Surveyor during periods of planned leave and other extended absences by Council’s Plumbing Surveyor.

As the Council develops, the position may continue to evolve and the incumbent will be expected to adopt a flexible approach to work requirements and to undertake new or alternative duties as required. This may include new technology usage, new work procedures and service delivery systems. Consultation about the changes will involve the employee and will be supported with training where required.

The incumbent will be expected to adopt a positive approach towards change and lead by example with when implementing any changes to the workplace and/or its operations. Consultation will be a key activity in undertaking such activities.
