An experienced SMP Estimator is required to join our clients rapidly growing business and be based within the Balcatta office.

Our client is a leading ASX listed builder and maintenance contractor with various branches across Australia servicing the Defence, mining, oil and gas, industrial and marine industries along with government assets and commercial infrastructure including heritage buildings. 

The role:

The SMP Estimator will be responsible for all aspects of estimate coordination, preparation, and, risk review, including cost estimating & reporting, coordination of third-party pricing enquiries, subcontractor identification and engagement, and liaison with various business units to develop and deliver competitive winning estimates.
The SMP Estimator will ensure tenders are accurate, submitted on time and within the conditions of the tender, and will be engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:

  • Accurate preparation of cost plans including visualization of the finished product, quantifying and rating appropriately.
  • Compile clear and concise scopes of works and request for tender documentation.
  • Attend Site visits as required including remote and interstate site locations.
  • Determine and submit tender clarifications on time and as required to both ensure compliance of tender and maintain strategic position.
  • Conduct commercial, risk and profitability reviews aligned with company procedures and risk thresholds.
  • Ongoing contribution and development of National subcontractor and supplier base.
  • A structured consistent approach to pricing works with transparency and cross checking mechanisms to provide assurance of tender values in line with company policies and procedures.


  • Demonstrated client and supplier relationships management skills.
  • A strong financial, business and commercial acumen with the ability to write and execute effective cost plans.
  • Proven experience in the preparation of tenders for market including full compliance of tender documentation with client requirements.
  • Able to maximise profit on turnover through the tender process.
  • Provide accurate cost advice to the project team.
  • Strong Exposure to the Australian construction industry along with in-depth knowledge of potential subcontractor and supplier bases.
  • True understanding of risk management and the appropriation of cost to manage risk and opportunity.
