Our opportunity
We have a 12 month Fixed Term Contract opportunity for a Database and Applications Architect to join our IT team based in Sydney. Reporting to the National IT Manager, the primary focus of this role is to manage all Oracle Databases including coverage of application architecture and support.

Responsibilities include:

* Supporting the delivery of reliable, high performance relational Database management systems for the Organisation's core business applications
* Undertake daily administration, including monitoring database and system performance, ensuring successful database backups, and developing/implementing disaster recovery plans
* Modify existing databases or instruct programmers and analysts on the required changes
* Patch management both at the database and applications level
* Provide support to applications team
* Backup Unix administration for On-call and via Unix Outsourcer.
* Backup MS-SQL Server database administration with Enterprise Systems Team.

Other requirements:

* Experience with managing Oracle 11g and 12c Databases and Real Application Clusters including Oracle Dataguard, cloning, patching and upgrading those versions
* Experience with managing and upgrading Oracle Grid Control 12c and later
* Experience with managing Oracle EBS R12 application including patch management, troubleshooting issues and cloning.
* Experience and specialist skills in the design, configuration and maintenance of database technologies
* Well-developed skills in associated Database programming languages such as SQL
* Well-developed skills in one or more major operating system platforms such as Solaris, Unix, Linux and Windows.
* Well-developed skills in Unix shell scripting
* Exposure to Cloud services including SaaS and IaaS.
* Good understanding of the business information needs of the organisation
* Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
* Strong skills in preparing documentation and written communication
* Database technology certifications – OCP certified favourable

Therefore, sound interpersonal skills, strong customer service orientation and a commitment to the Toshiba Values will ensure success.
