We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Operations Infrastructure Projects Design team in Brisbane on a full time, fixed term basis for 15 months. We will consider part-time applicants as well. 

Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering design, technical document preparation, package engineering and commissioning engineering for upgrades to existing plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and scope requirements, from feasibility stage through to concept and detailed design;
  • Execute engineering design for concept, front end and detailed design stages of assigned projects;
  • Prepare detailed engineering design documentation including engineering calculations, SOW, specifications, datasheets, reports, drawings etc;
  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior Engineers;
  • Prepare and review engineering work packs for tender and purchase;
  • Provide input, as required to continuously improve relevant engineering standards, policies and procedures relating to project engineering;


About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering admitting to corporate membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia or equivalent;
  • Chartered or Registered Professional Engineer;
  • Extensive experience in undertaking engineering design, package engineering and commissioning support for brownfield projects on gas transmission assets including AS2885 pipeline assemblies, gas metering station, pressure reduction skids and control valve assemblies;
  • Good working knowledge of Australian Standard AS2885 and ASME B31.3 is mandatory. Knowledge of AS1210 and associated Australian and International reference standards will be highly regarded;
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and nationally dispersed engineering design team;
  • A self-starter who can work autonomously with good stakeholder management and communication skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering design projects simultaneously and effectively;
  • More than 8 years on post graduate experience, preferably in the Australian gas, power or energy utilities industries;
