A unique opportunity exists for a talented General / Engineering Manager to join this reputable engineering turnkey division that design, manufacture materials handling products for the aviation, tank, FMCG and light manufacturing industries and are a division of a large engineering / manufacturing organization that is over 70 years strong.

The role of General / Engineering Manager sits within an established arm of the group and will lead and develop a team of engineers, designers and tradespeople based in SE of Melbourne.

Description

The role of the General / Engineering Manager will be to lead engineering / manufacturing and site teams to ensure best practice in the company's project delivery methods. This will extend to multi-project resource planning for people; mentoring and developing engineers; systems development; client and stakeholder management.

Key Task & Responsibilities are:

  • Structural Tertiary qualifications a must or Civil / Mechanical Degree
  • MBA qualifications (desirable)
  • Strong management experience dealing with manufacturing / site teams
  • 10+ years of relevant experience and design of materials handling, pumps and vessels, foundations
  • Understanding of business finance (Monthly business reports)
  • 5+ years of Australian experience in steel structures codes and standards
  • Understanding of Solid works.
  • Understanding using 3D modelling and Finite Element Analysis software
  • Support project management delivery through strong engineering principles
  • Development and improvement of Engineering Management Systems
  • Work with sales & technical staff to generate custom design, conceptual layouts and costing
  • Coordinate with sales, mechanical technicians, suppliers & clients, to manage the manufacturing & assembly processes & delivery
  • Foster a culture of accountability, structure and process
  • Risk Assessment process implementation
  • Business Management, sales and commercial experience, create annual budgets, growth opportunity within organization manage 30/40 staff
  • Experience in equipment requirements for materials handling manufacturing environments
  • Understanding / experience in workshops, machine shop environments
  • Assist in provision of work scopes, budget execution and Mechanical Engineering projects
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and drive a highly technical engineering team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders.
