Key requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture
  • Experience in history, heritage, archaeology, or prehistory, or similar
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in statutory planning and heritage assessment.
  • Broader experience in the transport sector, environmental management and stakeholder management would be viewed favourably.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of heritage assessment documentation such as conservation management plans, heritage impact assessments, statements of heritage significance, cultural heritage assessment reports and heritage management plans.
  • Familiarity with Commonwealth and NSW environmental legislation and their application to facilitate the delivery of infrastructure projects
  • Experience working on TfNSW projects (including RMS)

Job Description

Due to our growing presence in the environment and sustainability market and recent large project wins, we have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Heritage Consultant to join our growing team. This position can be a part time or fulltime role. You will be joining a diverse team of consultants who are passionate about what they do, with a proven track record guiding our clients, and leading delivery of critical infrastructure projects.

You would be part of our multi-disciplinary environment and sustainability team, which covers all aspects of statutory approvals, strategic planning, environmental assessments, environmental management, carbon management, climate resilience, sustainable building and infrastructure design, and corporate sustainability reporting and strategy development.

Role Specific Duties:
  • Provide architectural advice and input into a range of projects as required including schedules, planning approvals processes, and liaison with project specialists (Engineers, Architects, Environment, Sustainability and Noise and Vibration).
  • Experience in field investigations and recording, research, impact assessment and statutory approvals (eg cultural heritage management plans, maintenance plans, etc).
  • Provide support to our statutory planning, planning and environmental approvals, environmental management and impact assessments to facilitate project outcomes.
  • Be an integral part of multi-discipline teams working on major infrastructure programs such as Sydney Metro and More Trains More Services.
  • Assist with the project management of heritage approvals processes, including interfacing across project teams and documentation.
  • Develop client relationships and build new relationships in continued support of developing a more diverse and robust business.
  • Provide support with the development of proposals and bid submissions
  • Experience in NSW heritage legislation assessing heritage significance criteria and relevant archaeological guidelines/best practice methods and standards including, but not limited to, relevant archaeology publications issued by the Heritage Council of NSW
  • Knowledge of local, State and Commonwealth legislation relating to environmental management in NSW and other jurisdictions in Australia.
  • Experience in providing heritage management advice, compliance, auditing and report writing.
  • Project management of staff and consultants as required.
